Wally Pfister, who has served as cinematographer on all of Christopher Nolan's films since Memento, has landed an A-list star for his directorial debut. Johnny Depp has signed on for the "present-day science fiction film," Transcendence, which will be produced by Christopher Nolan and wife Emma Thomas. THR says that landing Depp came at a steep price. The actor will get "$20 million against 15% of the gross," meaning the better the film performs at the box office, a bigger chunk of money goes to Depp. The deal is similar to Depp's contract structure for the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, which has earned him over $300 million to date. The plot reportedly centers on "a man who creates a computer that develops a malevolent awareness."...
