It was a night for new blood at the 2012 Emmys, with Homeland dominating Drama Series, Lead Actor for Damian Lewis, and lead actress for Claire Danes.  On the Comedy side of things, Modern Family pulled out a win over a very hopeful Big Bang Theory for Best Comedy, and cast members Julie Bowen and Eric Stonestreet swept the support Actress and Actor categories respectively.

Homeland laid waste to two streaks that had nearly become tradition at the Emmys, and were on the verge of setting records.  Had Bryan Cranston won for Breaking Bad it would have been his fourth consecutive win for the same role, an Emmys first.  One of the biggest upsets was Mad Men, not only was the series blocked from a historic Fifth consecutive win, Emmy voters pretty much condemned what has been considered a sub par season for the show awarding not a single statuette to the series. »
