"Reno 911!" co-creator and star Robert Ben Garant is set to direct the comedy film adaptation of 90's lifesaver series "Baywatch" at Paramount Pictures reports Vulture.

"Rescue Me" creator Peter Tolan penned the script which avoids the hammy drama of the original series in favour of something more akin to classic 80's comedy "Stripes". Or, more accurately, sends up the material the same way 'Reno' spoofed "Cops".

With Garant on board, it's likely the script will get further work as he has co-written such films as "Night at the Museum," "Balls of Fury," "The Pacifier," "Taxi" and "Herbie: Fully Loaded". Ivan Reitman is producing. »
