"Les Miserables" had been slated to open Dec. 14 but Universal announced Tuesday that the picture has been pushed back to Dec. 25. That is just nine days before Oscar nomination ballots are due. -Insertgroups:5- "Django Unchained" and "The Guilt Trip" are also being presented on Christmas Day. The move leaves "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" as the only Oscar contender opening on Dec. 14.  Oscar champ Tom Hooper ("The King's Speech") directed this lavish production of "Les Miserables"  with Hugh Jackman headlining as Jean Valjean, who is pursued mercilessly by Inspector Javert (Oscar winner Russell Crowe).
