Quando lo scorso maggio sono arrivate online le prime foto dal set di Iron Man 3, in molte di queste appariva anche un'armatura molto simile a quella di Iron Patriot nei fumetti. Molti siti iniziarono a speculare sulla possibile partecipazione del personaggio nel film ma il rumor fu smentito quasi subito e fu confermato che l'armatura sarebbe apparsa nella pellicola diretta da Shane Black ma indossata da Rhodey (Don Cheadle). Iron Patriot sarebbe stata niente di meno che una nuova versione dell'armatura di War Machine.Ora, però, arrivano nuovi particolari sull'inclusione dell'armatura: la Marvel avrebbe effettuato nuove richieste di registrazione trademark per le frasi Iron Patriot e Avengers Initiative.
