L'ex Scooby Doo parteciperà alla serie nel ruolo di un vecchio amico di Shawn e Gus interessato al fenomeno degli alieni, ma ci sono altre sorprese in attesa per i fans. Nello show creato da Steve Franks, tutto ciò che ha un'aria vagamente sovrannaturale viene screditato abilmente da Shawn e Gus (James Roday e Dulé Hill), paradossalmente in veste di consulenti 'parapsicologi': nell'episodio Not Even Close... Encounters, i due investigatori avranno a che fare con una situazione che richiede l'intervento di un loro vecchio amico, un appassionato di ufologia ed esperto di alieni.
