This weekend the reigning box office champion The Expendables 2 was looking close to getting pushed out by a documentary that I, here in New York, had never even heard of. But while the polemical documentary 2016: Obama's America is doing much bigger business than most docs, Sylvester Stallone and company are still on top, making $4 million on Friday and setting non track for a $13.5 million opening weekend. Obama's America-- which, as you might be able to guess, is highly critical of the sitting President-- ought to make $4.5 million for the weekend, which is good enough for a spot in the top 10. As for the rest of the new releases, they're all performing well behind The Expendables 2-- according to THR, Premium Rush is doing the best, with $2 million on Friday and a projected $6 million weekend.
