At one point, Mark Wahlberg was set to star in a big screen version of "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" video game, to be directed by his "The Fighter" helmer David O Russell. After a few interviews, it became clear that Russell was clueless about the game and ended up dropping out of the project. Neil Burger (Limitless) quickly stepped in to replace him. That was over a year ago. Variety has now learned that Burger is no longer attached, but Sony Pictures is still interested in turning the property into a feature film. To keep things moving, the studio has hired "National Treasure" writers Marianne and Cormac Wibberley to pen the script. The duo also wrote "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" and are the creators of USA Network's "Common Law" series. »
