Dass sich James Franco ("Spider-Man") für ein Projekt mit Schwulen-Porno-Regisseur Travis Mathews zusammengetan hat, ist schon länger bekannt. Nun wurde publik, dass "James Franco's Cruising" 40 fehlende Minuten aus Al Pacinos Thriller "Cruising" aus dem Jahr 1980 thematisiert. Was die Szenen genau enthalten, ist nicht bekannt, aber Franco suchte extra einen Co-Regisseur, der schon echte schwule Sex-Szenen gedreht hat.
