La casa di produzione che ha realizzato Ted di Seth MacFarlane è pronta ad ottenere i diritti di sfruttamento de La Torre Nera...Deadline rivela che la Media Rights Capital è pronta ad ottenere i diritti di sfruttamento de La Torre Nera, dopo l'abbandono della Warner Bros. Pictures. Mordecai Wiczyk, il co-fondatore, della casa di produzione sembra esser un fan del romanzo di Stephen King e, grazie al successo del loro film Ted di Seth MacFarlane, ha soldi a sufficienza per svilupparlo. Il progetto vede Ron Howard presumibilmente dirigere e produrre il film insieme a Brian Grazer, Stephen King e Akiva Goldsman; Howard vorrebbe Russell Crowe nel ruolo del protagonista.
