La Marvel Studios ha revelado que se ha visto obligada a detener la producción de "Iron Man 3" debido a una lesión en el set a la estrella de la película, Robert Downey Jr. Según el comunicado oficial de "Robert Downey Jr. sufrió una lesión en el tobillo en el set de 'Iron Man 3' en Wilmington, Carolina del Norte mientras realizaba un truco. Habrá un pequeño retraso en el calendario de producción, mientras se recupera". La nueva película está dirigida por Shane Black y co-protagonizada por Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Jon Favreau, Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce, James Badge Dale y Ashley Hamilton.
