Tom Hardy e Michael Shannon dopo aver messo da parte i loro ruoli da anti-eroe, rispettivamente Bane in Il cavaliere Oscuro - Il Ritorno e il generale Zod ne L'Uomo d'Acciaio, saranno coinvolti nel film The Long Red Road, adattamento dell'opera teatrale di Brett C. Leonard.A teatro Hardy vestiva i panni di Sam un uomo che viveva in una riserva indiana del Sud Dakota che cerca di liberarsi del suo dolore, e li riprenderà per il ruolo cinematografico mentre Shannon sarà il fratello maggiore di Sam, Bob. Il plot narrativo si infittisce quando si rifà vivo un uomo del passato di Sam, che lo costringerà a guardarsi indietro. In teatro il regista fu Philip Seymour Hoffman ma non è chiaro se l'attore tornerà a recitare o dirigere il film. In calce si riporta un dietro le quinte della versione teatrale con Hoffman e Hardy. »
