Non sono state rilasciate motivazioni ufficiali, ma Kristen Stewart non parteciperà più a Cali, film che avrebbe dovuto iniziare a girare a fine estate e che aveva appena aggiunto Alex Pettyfer (Sono il numero quattro, Beastly, Magic Mike) come protagonista maschile.
Anche se le motivazioni che hanno spinto la Stewart a rinunciare al progetto potrebbero non essere poi tanto misteriose. Probabilmente dopo lo scandalo è in cerca di ruoli che possano aiutarla a risollevare la sua figura pubblica e un torbido action come Cali, in cui avrebbe dovuto interpretare una dark lady coinvolta in un giro di truffe e di snuff movies, non era forse quello giusto.
