L'attrice riprenderà il suo ruolo di Mary per una serie di episodi, al suo fianco ci saranno anche Max Weinberg e Robert A. Caro. Il cuore di Bart verrà rapito nuovamente dal ritorno di una sua vecchia fiamma a Sprinfield: Mary, alias Zooey Deschanel, sarà di nuovo protagonista nella vita del giovane Simpson a partire dalla premiere della 24esima stagione che arriverà sugli schermi americani il 30 Settembre. Stavolta però gli autori de I Simpson hanno deciso di illustrare a fondo la storyline che vede Mary protagonista, riservandole anche l'episodio speciale di San Valentino, intitolato Love Is A Many-Splintered Thing.
