Siamo nel 1984 e sul pianeta Krypton è in corso un processo a tre pericolosi ribelli. Jor – El (Marlon Brando), presidente del tribunale, nonché una delle personalità più importanti di Krypton, per proteggere il figlio Kal – El lo invia sulla terra. La navicella atterra a Smallville e il bambino viene adottato dai signori Kent. Da quel momento Kal – El assumerà il nome di Carl Kent (Christopher Reeve) e sarà un ragazzo fuori dal comune.
A trent’anni inizierà a lavorare al Daily Planet, giornale di Metropolis dove incontrerà la giornalista Lois Lane. L’eroe buono cercherà di sconfiggere con i suoi superpoteri il perfido Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman) e salverà Lois Lane (Margot Kidder).
Il film è prodotto nel 1978 ed è diretto da Richad Donner.
