Intervistato da Entertainment Weekly, Philip Seymour Hoffman (premio Oscar nel 2006 per Truman Capote: A sangue freddo) ha spiegato cosa lo ha spinto ad accettare il ruolo di Plutarch Heavensbee nel sequel di Hunger Games, Catching Fire (La ragazza di fuoco).
Heavensbee è il nuovo direttore dei giochi, nella 75ma edizione degli Hunger Games: il Quarter Quell, un'edizione "giubilare" che si tiene ogni venticinque anni con regole ancor più crudeli. Prende il posto di Seneca Crane, che nel primo film era interpretato da Wes Bentley.
