Sebbene la Sony e Marc Webb abbiamo espresso il desiderio di lavorare di nuovo insieme in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, per costruire un mondo cinematografico sullo stile di quello realizzato da Christopher Nolan nei film di Batman, il regista deve onorare il contratto con la Fox Searchlight, stipulato ai tempi di 500 giorni insieme, per la realizzazione di un film come regista.
Precedentemente, gli esecutive della Fox avevano dato a Webb il permesso di dare la precedenza a The Amazing Spider-Man, ma il La Times riporta che lo studio ora è meno incline a rimandare un’altra volta il proprio film, che potrebbe essere il thriller futuristico Age of Rage, visto che oramai sono passati due anni dalla realizzazione dell’opera prima di Webb. Ma pare che i due studio stiano cercando di trovare una soluzione, ovvero, la Fox potrebbe dare a Webb il lasciapassare per dirigere The Amazing Spider-Man 2, »
