Christopher Nolan revolucionó el cine comercial de acción y aventuras hace siete años con Batman Begins apostando por un tono sombrío, serio y oscuro alejado del condescendiente estilo general de la mayoría de productos veraniegos sobre superhéroes, que tendían a infravalorar la inteligencia del espectador sirviendo un producto sencillo, asequible y masticado directo al paladar. Con The Dark Knight (2008) no solo dio un paso adelante en esa revolución sino que asentó las bases para futuros creadores de como se debe presentar y mantener a un villano en pantalla sin caer en el maniqueísmo ni la moralina.
Muchas películas recientes han bebido de ese éxito (Un ciudadano ejemplar, X-Men Origins, Código Fuente, etc) pero ninguna ha conseguido igualarlo. Llegados a este punto, en el 2012, siete años después de liderar ese nuevo movimiento cinematográfico que ha cambiado los prototipos del cine comercial, Nolan se encuentra con que su máximo contrincante es él mismo. »
