Of all the non-news to come out of Comic-Con this weekend, this might be the most exciting. Back in 2008 when Hellboy II: The Golden Army hit theatres, it seemed like the perfect storm; Guillermo del Toro was coming off the critically acclaimed Pan's Labyrinth and returning to a comic book movie that had been somewhat overlooked in theatres but found a following on DVD. I thought the sequel lived up to expectations and found the perfect balance of action, special effects and humour. Unfortunately the film just barely broke even... in other words, it didn't do much better than the original. Then Del Toro committed to directing The Hobbit and got busy with a billion other projects, and Hellboy was basically forgotten. Fortunately this week Red has popped up on the radar again and we're finally starting to hear talk of completing the trilogy. But will it happen anytime soon? »
