Hoy sábado 7 de julio, a las 21.45 horas, Fox Crime le da la bienvenida en su cita con el cine de los fines de semana a The boxer, filme dirigido en 1997 por el realizador irlandés James Sheridan.
Con el trasfondo del terrorismo del Ira en Irlanda del Norte y con el mundo del boxeo como escenario, The Boxer gira en torno al personaje de Danny Flynn, papel interpretado por Daniel Day Lewis, por entonces actor fetiche de Sheridan con el que ya había trabajado en Mi pie izquierdo, que le valió un Oscar, y en En el nombre del padre, donde el director ya abordaba las secuelas del terrorismo norirlandés.
En The Boxer, Daniel Day Lewis da vida a un joven encarcelado a los 19 años por su vinculación con el Ira que, al salir de la cárcel 14 años después, regresa a Belfast con el firme propósito de alejarse de la violencia. »
