Get over the underwater, echo-y dialogue here (something tells us the chatter won't be too important in this one) and you'll find plenty of intrigue in the trailer for Russian-American director Julia Loktev's second film. Based on a short story ("Expensive Trips Nowhere") by awesome writer Tom Bissell, The Loneliest Planet follows an engaged couple, Alex (Gael Garcia Bernal) and Nica (Hani Furstenberg), on a trek through Georgia, the country. And, then, the clip beckons: What would you do if the one you love became a stranger in an instant? Probably be freaked out! Especially when chimpanzees are being creepily, rhythmically counted and scary heavy breathing is abundant! »
