TNT's "Dallas" sequel has scored big in the ratings this summer, and the cable channel is rewarding it by ordering a second season.
The network has also picked up its crime drama "Rizzoli & Isles" for another season after it's demonstrated it can stand on its own this summer.
"Dallas" has averaged 6.9 million viewers over its first two episodes (including three days of DVR viewing on each). Its premiere on June 13 has drawn 7.8 million viewers (again with three-day DVR use figured in), making it the top scripted premiere of 2012 on cable. Season 2 of the new "Dallas" will air next year and run 15 episodes, up from 10 this summer.
"Rizzoli & Isles" has drawn even bigger numbers for TNT so far this summer. Including DVR use, it's averaging 7.1 million viewers so far and shown it can thrive without "The Closer" as its lead-in. Season 4 of the show will also air next year and feature 15 episodes.
