Numa entrevista à revista SFX, Emma Thomas - produtora do franchise Batman e esposa de Christopher Nolan foi extremamente frontal à questão do jornalista relativamente ao regresso do cineasta para um quarto filme da franquia. «Não. Nunca. Eu não imagino um mundo em que [Nolan] queira voltar a filmar um filme da saga (…) Passamos quase 10 anos das nossas vidas a fazer os filmes Batman. Ele sempre esteve entusiasmado com a história que encontrou, mas não imagino que se entusiasmasse com uma nova versão da mesma coisa. A boa coisa das trilogias é que sentes que estás a criar o início, o meio e o fim. É como a extensão de um filme. Quando chegas ao quarto filme, então já estás num caso episódico e por isso mesmo não o imagino excitado em fazer um novo filme onde apenas o que mudam são os vilões».
