The last horror film we can really remember making any sort of waves in the film community was April’s excellent “Cabin in the Woods,” which was able to deconstruct many of the genre’s tropes while also affectionately playing into them to great success. Since then there’s been a dearth of things that go bump in the night at the cinema, with the Johnny Depp-starring “Dark Shadows” doing little to excite, and even a few independent features making their way to arthouses or Video On Demand.

Well, hopefully the tide is about to turn, with Sundance favorite “V/H/S” checking in with a terrifying little red band trailer as it makes its way to theaters in the fall. We found it to be “a solidly delivered horror anthology that brings the thrills” when our writer caught it in Park City, and the trailer certainly hews close to that assessment. »
