Showtime's critically acclaimed series Weeds will be concluding its run this year.

According to Entertainment Weekly, show creator Jenji Kohan isn't sure what the final season will include beyond resolving last season's assassination attempt

"I'm so proud of what we do here and that it's about a strong woman lead who's really flawed," Jenji told the news source. "We get to do comedy right up against drama, which a lot of shows don't get the opportunity to do."

Premiering in 2005, Weeds was one of Showtime's flagship shows that confirmed the network's ability to produce intriguing original content, and in turn paved the way for programs like Nurse Jackie and Californication.
