Lanciati da The Puffy Chair nel 2005, negli anni i fratelli Duplass si sono fatti apprezzare come registi indipendenti soprattutto grazie alle loro regie di Jeff Who Lives at Home e Cyrus (la commedia con John C. Reilly, Jonah Hill e Marisa Tomei uscita anche in Italia nel 2010). Da quel che riporta Deadline, Jay e Mark Duplass sarebbero ora in trattative per scrivere e forse dirigere una sorta di rivisitazione della rom-com del 1978 Lo stesso giorno il prossimo anno: una storia d’amore decisamente particolare in cui un lui e una lei si continuano a vedere nel corso del tempo solo una volta l’anno, sempre nel solito luogo e alla solita ora… Nel film originale i due protagonisti erano interpretati da Alan Alda e Ellen Burstyn. Al momento altri dettagli non sono stati resi noti sulle modalità di questo remake: vi terremo aggiornati.
