Frank Cady, who was best known for playing Sam Drucker on "Green Acres" and "Petticoat Junction," died Friday (June 8), this according to the L.A. Times. He was 96.

For the first part of his professional acting career, which began in 1936 according to IMDb, Cady primarily had bit parts and uncredited roles. Some of the more noted films he was in during this period were "Father of the Bride" and "Rear Window."

Cady's career advanced steadily and he landed a recurring role as Doc Williams on "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet." During the run of the series, he portrayed this character in 60 episodes.

Soon after, Cady secured the role of Drucker, first on "Petticoat Junction" and later on "Green Acres" and even on "The Beverly Hillbillies." He would go on to play the general-store proprietor for more than 300 episodes between 1963-71.
