Original artwork from a 1932 Tintin book has set the record for the sale of comic book art. The art, featured on the cover of Hergé's book Tintin in America, fetched €1.3m (£1m/$$1.6m) at a Paris auction on Saturday (June 2), according to The Hollywood Reporter. Only five of the covers are known to exist, with two of them in private hands. The same artwork had set the previous record for comic book art when it sold in 2008 for £633,000 ($$972,000). The record for American comic art is held by a splash page from The Dark Knight Returns in 2011, which sold for $$448,125 (£291,662). (more) »
