Non c’è dubbio che, almeno sulla carta, questo duetto attoriale prometta scintille. Attrici di due generazioni differenti (hanno per l’esattezza 20 anni di differenza) ma entrambe dotate di grande talento e professionalità, Cate Blanchett e Mia Wasikowska si troveranno a recitare insieme per il film Carol che, tratto da un romanzo di Patricia Highsmith del 1952 (The Price of Salt), racconta di un amore impossibile, passionale e tormentato tra due donne: una ventenne di umili origini (Wasikowska) e una ricca moglie annoiata e intrappolata in un matrimonio infelice (Blanchett).
Alla regia troviamo John Crowley (già autore di Boy A con Andrew Garfield,) che lavorerà a partire da uno script firmato da Phyllis Nagy (Mrs. Harris). Le riprese inizieranno il prossimo febbraio tra Londra e New York.
