It seemed improbable that Ant-Man was heading into production anytime soon, especially since director Edgar Wright has already announced principle photography will begin on The World's End, his trilogy ending collaboration with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, sometime this September. He is then set to follow that up immediately with The Night Stalker starring Johnny Depp.

So when Kevin Feige revealed yesterday that two as-yet-unnamed Marvel franchise movies were going to be announced soon, most assumed that this upcoming tie-in to Marvel's The Avengers was not going to be appearing on that impending production slate.

Now, though, if we are to believe Edgar Wright himself, Ant-Man is one of those two impending Marvel stand-alone adventures. First, he gave the Empire Podcase this quote.

"Things are happening, and other things are happening on other things as well. There's some interesting plates spinning and I ideally hope I'll be shooting this year. »
