Mentre nel resto del mondo The Avengers sbaraglia la concorrenza e polverizza ogni record, in Italia il crossover di supereroi diretto da Joss Whedon ha dovuto cedere lo scettro del box office alla commedia grossolana American Pie: ancora insieme. Anche se la distanza tra i due incassi è davvero minima. Il quarto capitolo cinematografico del franchise con protagonisti un gruppo di studenti (ormai più che ex) alle prese con vari problemi sentimentali ha infatti incassato 2,367 milioni di euro in tre giorni di programmazione mentre il film che riunisce sotto lo stesso tetto Thor, Hulk, Captain America e Iron Man ha ottenuto 2,341 milioni di euro arrivando così a un totale di 14 milioni di euro.
Entra quindi in terza posizione Hunger Games, che non riesce a decollare schiacciato tra American Pie e The Avengers, e incassa nel weekend 989 mila euro con un incasso totale (è uscito martedì 1 maggio) di 1,8 milioni di euro. »
