Dopo la conferma alla regia di Francis Lawrence per Catching Fire, il sequel di Hunger Games, non sorprende la notizia riportata in esclusiva da THR che il premio Oscar Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3, Little Miss Sunshine) sia in trattative per lavorare sulla precedente sceneggiatura.
Quando si ipotizzava che il regista Gary Ross avrebbe diretto anche il sequel, lo script era stato scritto da Simon Beaufoy (The Millionaire). La Lionsgate non ha ancora concluso un accordo con Arndt, se lo scrittore accetterà, avrà pochissimo tempo per rivedere lo script di Catching Fire, il cui inizio delle riprese è previsto per fine estate.
