Stretch Armstrong Movie Finds Writer

Dean Georgaris (The Manchurian Candidate) has been hired to write Stretch Armstrong for Hasbro and Relativity Media. Variety reports that the project is planned as an action-oriented family film, instead of a live-action cartoon strictly for kids. The film is being produced by Hasbro's Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir, along with Relativity's Ryan Kavanaugh

Stretch Armstrong was launched by Hasbro in 1976 and relaunched in the '90s as a toy that can be stretched repeatedly and always returned to his original size. Taylor Lautner was originally attached to star as the titular character when the project was at Universal Pictures. The film is slated for release on April 11, 2014. The story will be based on the popular toy, and is being staged as a franchise. 

Georgaris also wrote such films as Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life and John Woo's Paycheck before Manchurian Candidate. He also produced
