Il grande attore e regista Sean Penn (Carlito's Way, Into the Wild - Nelle terre selvagge) potrebbe interpretare un ruolo di supporto nel comedy drama dai toni fantasy The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, per la 20th Century Fox. Il film, diretto da Ben Stiller (Tropic Thunder, Starsky & Hutch) che ne sarà anche il protagonista, è un remake di quello del 1947 con Danny Kaye, a sua volta basato sulla storia di James Thurber pubblicata sul The New Yorker nel 1939.Un uomo (Stiller) succube della madre autoritaria e del principale, affronta le frustrazioni della sua vita noiosa sognando ad occhi aperti di essere un intrepido pilota d'aereo, un medico brillante e altro ancora.
