Nasser-Alì Khan, protagonista di Poulet aux prunes, é Mathieu Amalric. Viso triangolare, sguardo sorridente e un po’ beffardo, occhi tondi tondi che schizzano fuori dalle orbite, é un perfetto incrocio genetico di tratti polacchi (la madre) e francesi (il padre). Qui fa l’iraniano, e la scelta dei registi (Paronnaud e Satrapi in felice sinergia) é tanto stravagante quanto geniale, si tratta di una fiaba, e, anche se raccontata al cinema e non “davanti al focolare”, ne ha tutta la visionaria ed eccentrica realtà. Tra illusionismi onirici alla Méliès e brevissimi fermo-immagine degni del mondo sottosopra di Chagall, lo scenario fantasy sfuma verso cupi angoli di un paese da cui sembra bandita ogni forma di felicità. Iran 1958. Tra fantasia e realtà scorre la triste storia del violinista innamorato che decise di lasciarsi morire nella sua stanza, d’inverno. C’era qualcuno, non c’era nessuno…é così che iniziano le fiabe persiane. »
