Film censors in China have edited a scene in Titanic 3D which shows Kate Winslet's breasts over fears cinemagoers "may reach out their hands for a touch".

The British beauty stripped off for a key scene in the 1997 drama, and movie-goers around the world are flocking to see the film following its release in 3D earlier this month.

However, fans in China were baffled to discover Winslet's saucy scene had been edited out, with the star only being seen from the neck up.

Officials at China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (Sarft) have now addressed the controversy, stating, "Considering the vivid 3D effects, we fear that viewers may reach out their hands for a touch and thus interrupt other people's viewing.

"To avoid potential conflicts between viewers and out of consideration of building a harmonious ethical social environment, we've decided to cut off the nudity scenes."
