'Commando' Is Getting A Remake, But Is It Pointless Without Arnold Schwarzenegger?
"Commando" is many things: an '80s classic, a product of its time, a key role in the then-budding career of one Arnold Schwarzenegger. Add a new one to that list: remake fodder.

Deadline reports that 20th Century Fox is officially angling for a remake, with "Training Day" writer David Ayer tapped to script and direct it. It sounds like the remake will stay somewhat true to the original's plot: an exiled dictator kidnaps the daughter of an ex-Special Forces operative, using her as leverage to engineer the assassination of a rival. The big difference will be the protagonist: instead of a muscled, tough-talking badass, the hero will be "more skilled in covert tactics and weaponry."

I've got to say: I try to keep an open mind about all things, even remakes, but this one... I'm just not feeling it yet.
