Tras haber huido de Estados Unidos, el legendario forajido Butch Cassidy murió en Bolivia en 1908, tiroteado junto a su amigo Sundance Kid. Esto es lo que dice la versión oficial. Pero lo cierto es que ha pasado veinte años escondido y ahora quiere volver a casa. Sin embargo, pronto encontrará en su camino a un joven ingeniero español que acaba de robar la mina en la que trabajaba y que pertenece al empresario más importante de Bolivia.
