El maestro, el último director clásico, el alumno aventajado de Leone, y Don Siegel, el señor Clinton Eastwood Jr., más conocido como Clint Eastwood, no falta a su cita anual con el séptimo arte y nos presenta su particular visión de un personaje controvertido y tan amado como odiado: J. Edgar Hoover. Eastwood se divide en dos categorías: obras maestras y buenas películas. Su único film lamentable fue la bochornosa Hereafter, impropia de su talento y su leyenda. El primer grupo lo forman Sin Perdón, Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby, Gran Torino, Cartas desde Iwo Jima, Los Puentes de Madison, Bird y Honkytonk Man. El resto forma el segundo grupo. J. Edgar tenía todas las papeletas para integrar la primera lista pero cuando supe quien se encargaría de escribir el guión presagié que el mismo sería algo acartonado, básico y formal.
