Joss Whedon is in the mood for (supernatural) love -- and Abigail Spencer is near him.

The creator of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" is returning to his roots with "In Your Eyes," a supernatural romance that is most assuredly named after the Peter Gabriel song made famous by a certain scene in Cameron Crowe's "Say Anything...," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Plot details on "In Your Eyes" are being kept closely under wraps, but the basic premise centers on two people who are preternaturally or supernaturally connected, despite being polar opposites. Abigail Spencer, who's probably best known for her role as Don Draper's mistress on "Mad Men," is attached to star, with Whedon writing and producing.

Whedon has managed to balance the gargantuan task of writing and directing (and promoting) "The Avengers" with some low-budget side projects, including a new contemporary version of "Much Ado About Nothing," which he shot in 12 days last October. »
