2012 SXSW Film Festival to Open with The Cabin In The Woods; Initial Line-Up Announced

Today, the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival announced their initial line-up for 2012. More movies will be announced in the future, but from the get-go they've got some good-looking ones. The festival will open with the world premiere of Drew Goddard and Joss Whedon's The Cabin in the Woods. The movie sat on the shelf for a few years due to MGM's financial meltdown, but it finally found distribution with Lionsgate. SXSW is a great venue to give folks a first look at the film, and the trailer shows this is a movie really is going to turn the "Cabin in the Woods" horror subgenre on its head. The Cabin in the Woods (opening wide on April 13th) may be the marquee title, but there's other noteworthy flicks in the initial line-up.
