It's no brilliant or profound observation to point out that movie studios are busy raiding the realms of pop culture nostalgia, planning films based on old video games, toys and even board games. With each announcement, internet writers and commenters are supposed to be increasingly furious about the lack of new ideas in Hollywood, but personally, we're thrilled about this latest news: A movie based on the classic monster arcade game "Rampage."
The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog picked up the story, announcing that the new flick will be produced by John Rickard, "who has acted as a co-producer on a wide range of New Line movies from 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' and 'Final Destination' to 'Horrible Bosses' and next year's tentpole 'Jack the Giant Killer.'" Rickard is said to already be talking with writers about the movie.
So, why are we excited? It's not because we're huge...
