Bonne nouvelle ! Le réalisateur Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, L'Elite de Brooklyn) dirigera le film Southpaw avec Eminem. Désormais, les studios tentent d'acquérir le projet et MGM semble être le mieux placé, avec une place pour Sony côté distribution.
Dans le scénario écrit par Kurt Sutter (Sons of Anarchy, The Shield), un champion de boxe poids léger voit sa vie vaciller lorsque la tragédie le frappe. Dans un précédent article sur ce projet nous expliquions que le film était une sorte de prolongement du film 8 Mile, un nouveau parallèle avec le vrai parcours d'Eminem. Sutter explique : “C'est une sorte de continuité à 8 Mile mais plus qu'une véritable biographie, il s'agit d'un récit métaphorique sur le deuxième chapitre de sa vie."
