James Cameron's Avatar has made movie history by overtaking his previous box-office blockbuster Titanic as the best-selling international release of all time.
Cameron's 3D sci-fi spectacular has replaced his 1997 historical drama at the top of the movie theatre charts by bringing in a massive $1.84 billion in ticket sales worldwide during its unbroken six-week reign.
Titanic, which won a staggering 11 Academy Awards, racked up $1.84 billion at the box office between 1997 and 1998.
Avatar overtook Titanic this weekend (23-24Jan10) by pulling in another $36 million (£22.5 million) at theatres worldwide.
