It appears that rumors of "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke coming aboard the "21 Jump Street" remake was premature, as filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are now the frontrunners to helm the action comedy.

Lord and Miller, the co-directors of this year's "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs," are said to be in negotiations to helm "21 Jump Street," the Jonah Hill-penned remake of the late '80s/early '90s television cop drama. The Hollywood Reporter states that the directing duo are in high demand after the surprise success of "Meatballs," which just recently earned a Golden Globe nomination.

Further, "Meatballs" was a Sony Pictures production, which is the same studio responsible for the upcoming "Jump Street" revamp. It's likely that the company wants to keep Lord and Miller in the family, considering their successful work on "Meatballs."

Of course, "21 Jump Street" is quite a leap from the family-friendly content »
