R&B star Rihanna feared Chris Brown would never stop beating her in the shocking February attack when she realised there was "no soul in his eyes".

The Bajan beauty goes into detail about the shocking sequence of events on that fateful night for U.S. TV's Good Morning America, opening up for the first time about the bust-up which left her black and blue.

She confirms longrunning rumours that it was a suspicious text message Brown had received from a girl that sparked the "ugly" fight in his car after a pre-Grammy party.

She recalls, "We had a blast that night. (But then) I caught him at a (traffic) light and he wouldn't tell the truth. I wouldn't drop it. I couldn't take that he kept lying to me and he couldn't take that I wouldn't drop it because obviously his back was up against the wall; the truth was right there in this text message.

"It escalated into him being violent towards me and it was ugly."

Rihanna admits an emotionless Brown attacked her so badly, at one point her mouth was filled with blood.

She says, "All I could think about at the time was, 'When is it going to stop? When is it going to stop?' He had no soul in his eyes, just blank. He was clearly blacked out. There was no person when I looked at him.

"I was bleeding, I was swollen in my face. There was no way of me getting home. My next option was for me to get out (of) the car and walk, so I started walking in a gown and a bloody face. I really didn't know what was my plan. That whole night was not part of my plan."

Segments from the pre-recorded interview first aired on Thursday. The chat is due to be shown in full on Friday night.

Brown was sentenced to five years' probation, six months of community service and one year of domestic violence counselling in August as a result of the attack. »
