Mark Burnett's next TV project is a long way from "The Voice" and shouting matches between Nene Leakes and Star Jones.

Burnett will executive produce a History Channel miniseries "The Bible." History announced the 10-hour series on Tuesday (May 24); the "docudrama" is scheduled to air in 2013.

"This series will bring the historical stories of The Bible to life for a new generation," History Channel president and general manager Nancy Dubuc says. "We are thrilled to work with Mark, who is a rare breed in the business. He is an amazing storyteller, and on this project, has the ability to deliver what we hope will be the largest audience History has ever seen."

"The Bible" will film on location and use visual effects to re-create the stories of Noah's Ark, the Exodus and Jesus' crucifixion, among others, History says. It's the latest in the cable channel's effort to dramatize history »
