Late actress Farrah Fawcett's son Redmond O'Neal has opened up about his ongoing drug treatment - insisting he is doing "very well" in his bid to kick his addictions since his mother's death.

O'Neal moved from a California prison cell into a drug rehab facility last Thursday to continue his battle against addiction.

The 24-year-old son of actor Ryan O'Neal had been serving time behind bars in connection to a January 2008 drug arrest and a probation violation. Last month, he was placed on three years' formal probation in Santa Clarita, California.

During a status hearing on Wednesday, O'Neal said that he is doing "very well" in a treatment programme at the Impact Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center in Pasadena, California - as he continues his year-long intensive treatment in a bid to kick his drug habit once and for all.

O'Neal's next court date is set for 17 November.

Fawcett died on 25 June after losing her long battle with cancer.
