University bosses in the U.K. were forced to destroy flyers for a creative writing course - after receiving a complaint from legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg.

Leaflets promoting scriptwriting classes at the Lampeter campus of the University of Wales included a picture of the Jaws director.

But education chiefs had to pulp thousands of the flyers when Spielberg's lawyers accused them of using his image without proper authorisation.

A spokesman for the university says, "It was included by error - we were just trying to represent the scriptwriting aspect of the course. Although of course as soon as we heard from Mr Spielberg's lawyers we destroyed all the leaflets and sent Mr Spielberg a personal letter of apology.

"I have no idea how he found out about it, but all we can say is that we're very pleased to see our marketing techniques have such a far reach."
