The producer behind Oscar-winning Martin Scorsese movie The Departed is planning another movie about Boston, Massachusetts' deadly underworld.
Jack Nicholson's character in the 2006 thriller was inspired by fugitive crime lord James 'Whitey' Bulger, who ran the city's Winter Hill Gang, before disappearing in 1999.
Producer Graham King was so intrigued by the murky story, he has snapped up the life rights for Bulger's former enforcer, hitman John Martorano.
Martorano murdered 20 people over the space of a decade, before becoming an FBI informant. He served 14 years in prison and was released in 2007.
King reveals his fascination to Daily Variety, "When I first met John, I was struck by his unyielding sense of loyalty to those close to him. John has had a complicated life and it will be a fascinating story to tell the world." »
